Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

There's no limit to the number of passwords you can store, but keep in mind that they are stored in your browser's localStorage, which typically has a 5-10MB limit.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

Clearing your browser data will delete all stored passwords. Make sure to export your passwords before clearing browser data if you want to keep them.

Can I use this on multiple devices?

Yes, you can export your passwords from one device and import them on another. However, changes made on one device won't automatically sync to others.

Security Considerations

Is this tool secure?

While we implement basic security measures, this tool is designed for convenience rather than maximum security. Passwords are stored unencrypted in your browser's localStorage, which can be accessed through browser developer tools.

What accounts should I NOT store here?

Do NOT store passwords for sensitive accounts like banking, email, or social media. For these accounts, use a dedicated password manager with strong encryption.

How secure is the backup file?

Backup files are encoded but not encrypted. Anyone with access to the backup file can potentially view your passwords. Store backup files securely and delete them after restoring.

Features & Usage

What does the favorite feature do?

The favorite feature helps you quickly find frequently used passwords. You can toggle the "Show Favorites" button to view only your favorite passwords.

How does the search function work?

The search function looks through service names, usernames, and passwords. It's case-insensitive and updates results as you type.

Can I edit my passwords?

Yes, you can edit any password entry by clicking the pencil icon. This is useful for updating passwords or correcting typos.

Best Practices

How often should I backup my passwords?

We recommend backing up your passwords whenever you add or modify entries, and before clearing browser data or switching devices.

What makes a strong password?

A strong password should be at least 12 characters long, include uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid using personal information or common words.

Should I use the same password for multiple accounts?

No, never reuse passwords across different accounts. If one account is compromised, using unique passwords prevents attackers from accessing your other accounts.
